What's the best way to loose weight in a short amount of time (6 months)?

I'm 5'10 and basically 200 pounds. The highest my weight has ever been. Not proud of myself. But since I'm tall I look around 180. I want to get down to at least 140. I carry most of my weight in my thigh area! ALSO best exercise for lower abs please and thank you!💃
