Is it normal to worry about gaining weight after losing it?

Last year I was 240 pounds and today I am now about 190. However ever since I lost the weight I always fear about gaining it back. I always look in the mirror and since I still have some body fat I go crazy because I feel like I'm fatter than I look. Is it normal to worry about these kinds of things after losing so much weight?

  • Yes I feel the same, or did feel the same then I joined the gym and it toned me up so that could help.
  • Yes. Just be healthy. Exercise and eat right and you'll be fine. Don't go crazy with calorie counting and never eating junk food
  • Yes. but try not to. You worked hard did a lot so it's a fear response. Its a little like the circle of addiction for alcoholics/addicts (food included)One quits, starts worrying about relapse or trying to be "perfect". They stress up.And what do we do we we stress up ? Go back to the source of the addiction ( booze/food etc.)It's "self medicating" or seeking comfort through old ways, that caused the problem in the first place.Support groups are a good thing, like people with like problems, Weight watchers has a pretty good support group. Some self help books are good to, but nothing replaces human contact.Maybe, "The spirituality of imperfection" by Ernest Kurtz" would be a good start, what ever God draws you to.And WOW what an accomplishment ! Pretty impressive.;-) Be well
