How to not get bored on treadmill?

I tried music, but it didn't help. I tried watching TV and I would get distracted by the TV and not run as fast as I would want to. Any more suggestions? Or any other exercise ideas?

How to Lose Weight After Pregnancy

Recommended Answer:

Not sure how long you've been at it, but if you are past the break-in period, you can start pushing yourself more, you will get a natural high from it. Don't over do it though, you don't want your brain equating pain to your exercise program. Music does help, but it has to be something that really gets you going and keeps you going song after song. You may want to switch up if you've been at this for a few months. Use the treadmill still, but start adding in other exercises, slowly increasing with them, and decreasing with the treadmill. You can make your own weights with gallon water bottles, they weigh about 8 pounds each, adjust accordinly, A sturdy stick in between, with long socks or rope tied to stop the weight from moving up the stick and another piece to keep it on. Used weights are cheap, find a used sporting goods store, this is the dead of summer, they will bargain. You want some real dumbells, it's the best way to go and you'll be able to do so many more exercises ( find a book or site, it's been 20 something years since I needed a book, and it's a bit costly because it's huge, but Arnold's BodyBuilding Encylopedia is very good for instructions to do exercises right. And with that, or with fitness magazines, they will help inspire you ( don't believe most ot the junk in those magazines, especially any products! They are crap! The pictures will inspire you some. And with music, headphones is everything, otherwise it doesn't really hit so deep. The number one rule for success with exercising is to keep it enjoyable, and that's on all levels. I hope you find a solution that will work for you. Cycling is a great exercise, because it's not boring unless you ride to slow. Let yourself break-in again, a few weeks at least, then start amping it up. If you stand instead of sitting, your legs will work much more. Always wear a helmet, because you should be really hitting the speed, always keep one ear open for traffic, and make sure drivers see you. Night Cycling is the bomb! At least for me, you own the whole world once everyone is sleeping. Just have a lot of flashy lights, so you don't get mistaken for a theif in the night. Think long-term about your health, it's a huge deciding factor in our life that will determine so much of how life plays out for us. See yourself 10, 20, 50 years from now, still going strong. You will learn to love exercise, it will be a treat!! And the benefits are so many, far beyond weight loss or muscle gain and building muscle isn't easy or fast, so don't expect that you'll turn into a muscle-monster, it doesn't work like that unless you use illegal steroids. And muscle is where it's at, because it needs calories around the clock, to do many things, including surviving.
