It's debatable on how or if the cold temperature will jump start your metabolism, but at least your stomach will be partially filled already. Water is good for you anyway and is crucial in basic metabolic reactions. There was a study I came across (plus it's common knowledge by now) that showed a relation (not causation mind you) drinking adequate and less likely developing obesity (again relationship, not causation was determined). Also eat slower. It takes 15-25 minutes for certain signals (satiation signals) to tell your brain that your stomach is full. Men's health suggested time and time again to eat with chopsticks! You can't shovel food in as fast and you can't take as large of bites. Also, prepare foods in little containers if possible. I know when I open a bag of cheetos, I finish the whole bag in 20 minutes. If I pour a bowl out, I'm less likely to pour another bowl. Most likely I will though:) Lastly, have high fiber foods around that you can binge on. Things like celery actually use more calories to ingest/digest than it supplies. Plus it's good for you:) But instead of focusing on caloric intake, you should focus on caloric expenditure!
