How to drop a jeans size/a lot of weight?

I'm 16 and 5'5. I weight about 165 (most in my butt and thighs, some in my stomach/love handles) and wear a womens 12 (aeropostale). I'd like to lose quite a bit of weight. I used to be a size 5 juniors in jr high. I'd love to be a size 4 and weigh around 120. any ideas on how to drop the pounds and sizes? How long it might take?
