How often should a teen go jogging?

Not to lose weight, just to tone and build a bit of endurance :) I'm not a bad runner but I'm not good either. I once jogged at a steady pace for 11 minutes until my throat got too dry & I had to go take a drink of water (school wont allow water bottles in the gym)If I run fast or sprint, I can run for about two or three minutes sprinting or jogging at a very fast pace.The thing is, I can do it but it's very hard & painful when I breathe in because my throat just gets so dry & sometimes at school I get cramps.I don't eat snacks, only three meals a day & if I am craving something I'll have some grapes & cut up an apple or a peach to eat, or I'll just drink some water. I will spread meats, diary, wheats & veggies evenly in my meals.I also want to tone a bit too. I was thinking of jogging only three days a week & spend another day working on toning my tummy and end the week off with just brisk walking.So how often should a young teen go jogging? & how does my plan sound..? I'd appreciate any helpful answers :)
