How long did your wisdom teeth take to heal?

or your gums/jaw rather.I got mine out four and a half days ago.The swelling is mostly down. Still slight swelling, but not noticeable. The left side doesn't really hurt that much.I can't see the top at all so I don't know if it's healing or anything. I get pain in my jaw every now and then but I'm taking strong advil every six hours. The bottom right side hurts A LOT, constantly. and it's redder and slightly yellow. I'm worried it might be infected.I did have bad breath for a bit but now it's better I think as I've been rinsing my mouth out with salt water. My tonsils have white stripes on them so I'm thinking thats whats affecting the bottom right area. Strep or something.I'm not worried enough to call the dentist. Everything seems to be all right (until I run out of pain meds!) I'm just wondering how long it will be until I can eat chips and be free of pain and whatnot. IT's very vague on the pamphlet and the website it says a week or two but it's been almost five days and I'm not seeing much healing going on.Also, they gave me a syringe to clean on the 'holes' but I don't see holes. I see an area thats a bit red that I'm guessing is the gums over the place where the teeth were and then to the side is the black stitching. When the stitches come out is there commonly a hole?

I just had my wisdom teeth out two weeks ago. It took a full week to be able to eat a more normal diet but it still kind of hurt. I had three pulled and two of them got stitches so I didn't use a syringe to clean it, the syringe is probably to help squirt around the gums since food gets stuck there too. It helped my pain and to clean bits of food out by filling my mouth with warm salt water. The salt water helps kills germs and reduces swelling. DONT SWISH IT AND DONT GARGLE IT! Just fill your mouth with the salt water and let it sit in the back of your mouth and throat for a little as you breathe in and out of your nose. I don't have my tonsils anymore but I suggest that you see the doctor so you can get antibiotics if it is strep. Since its been four days for you, icing it wont help the swelling much but it might help with the pain. All of a sudden, after 7 to 8 days, you will feel magically relieved and better. Try to stay hydrated, eat high protein, and you should heal fast! To eat protein: protein powder mixed with yogurt is what i did. you can cut meat really small. eat soft white bread with peanut butter. etc. GOOD LUCK! hope this helps
