- They're both empty carbs. Cereals are not healthy for you at all despite what all the brainwashed people on yahoo will tell you... They're no different than stuffing yourself with sugar. Calories are not all equal and its impossible to accurately count them anyway. The type of calories you eat matter far more than how many. You could eat far more calories than you imagine and lose/maintain if you stay away from grains, sugar, high carbs and processed foods and if you increase the fat which while higher in calories will fill you up and help you burn fat. Sugars, grains (yes even whole grain and in cereal), heavy carbs will get stored as fat and provoke hunger.
