I need to diet and HATE vegetables?

I''m a 14 almost 15 yr old girl and I think i need to diet to lose a little weight now that major eatting holidays are over (i dont worry bout V-day, not a big fan of chocolate) for my upcoming prom but i can not get myself to eat vegetables. i feel like i might throw up. dressing for salads dont work either it just makes it worse. i already limit the high calorie snacks i have and i have 5 very energetic dogs so being active isnt a problem either. any tips that DONT involve starving myself??? (i dont LOOK to big cause im tall but the scale tells me a totally different story)

My 16 year old daughter sounds like you. She recently started making a smoothie called GGS (Glowing Green Smoothie). She hates veggies as well, but she seems to actually like this smoothie. Also, started making different smoothies a little before meals so that you get full on "good" foods that contain fruits and veggies before your parents tell you come eat your meat and potatoes sort of speak.

Here is a link to the GGS- http://kimberlysnyder.net/blog/ggs/
Here is a sample easy smoothie recipe we use (put in blender in this order)
Fill blender with 2 cups water
Add 1 packet of Crystal Light powder mix (white cran peach or white grape are our favorites)
Add 1 yogurt (greek yoplait, reg yoplait, oinkos, whatever you buy just throw 1 in)
Add frozen berries to desired thickness (start with less and add more to where you want it)

Tips, we buy the 3 berry blend (blue, black, and raspberry). To make it more healthy add flaxseed meal and/or chia seeds. Both have great health benefits.

Lastly...You are 14! Enjoy being young and don''t feel pressured by others to watch your weight. As long as you are happy with yourself, enjoy good food while your body lets you. You are at however at a great age where you can learn which healthy foods that you like and set a good foundation for the rest of your life. Experiment with different things and don''t be afraid to try something new. Some veggies taste completely different depending on what they are eaten with.

  • Eat to live, don'' t live to eat.
  • try going on an extremely low calorie diet for a week, you''ll be so hungry veggies will actually look and taste good...or u can try making them in your smoothies or both
  • well you are into a corner for sure..a very exiting one if you play it right. you cant just start eating veggies, you''ve got to find recipes that really get creative with them! theres a lot of advice on this nowadays. now, i know you might say "yuck"..but GREEN SMOOTHIES! start with simple ones that use mild greens like spinach then SLOWLY work in more and more, and start adding kale etc. theres a lot of neat things you can do with green smoothies. they are best if based on bananas(hope you dont hate bananas!) and if you add extra sweeteners like honey, and dates at first so you really like them. berries are good..so long as they are good berries, not the sour under ripe ones!

i would say the green smoothie diet is the single most pallet pleasing one for people in you position. otherwise it can seem like a real catch 22. but it still stands that you just have to FIND a way to make REAL food taste great.

other than that, refer to these links for overall diet advice if you end up becoming interested in a long term diet.

low carb high fat according to the site in the sources is perhaps a good solution to a lot of peoples cravings. and yes, it is certainly true that if you replace junk food with the whole foods you like, eventually you will gradually start to like more and more healthy foods. it''s definitely an adjustment period
