How many lbs will I lose if I fasted only on water for a week?

I want to fast for a week, but I don''t want to lose any weight. I''m already thin. 5''3 and 98lbs. I was wondering how much would I lose and how long would it take to gain it back, because I plan on gaining my weight back after the fast. Thank you.

People have been fasting for centuries for health and religious reasons. No one has ever died from fasting. Since this isn''t about weight loss for you, I think you should try a 2-3 day fast. If it feels good, try a week long fast. It''s important to remember that however many days you fast, you need that many to recover. Breaking a fast healthily is important. I suggest you read some articles on healthy fast breaking foods.

  • personally,i wouldnt want 2 limit 2 water only,its good for hydration,but u would need a least some kind of protein 2 go along with it. also,cranberry juice unsweetened works great! try it!
  • I agree with Joe S that you should not restrict yourself to water alone. I know this from personal experience. I am also thin 5''7" and 100 lb. I tried water fasts and never lasted more than 5 days. And even during this time after the first two days I would get such terrible headaches that normal activity would be affected. I now consume tea and sugar and with that I can continue for three weeks and carry on normal activity and that brings down my weight to almost 90 lb. Once I am back to normal food my weight again goes up to 95 lb.
