Does Zumba really work?

So i literally just started Zumba it was so much fun. Many people have told me that they lost a lot of weight. I was just wonder if it really does work? If so, how long would it take to lose 4 pants sizes?

Absolutely,

To lose weight you need to do AEROBIC (cardio) exercises on nearly a daily basis. This will initiate oxidative phosphorylation (fat burn) within the cells. Get your heart rate around 100-140 bpm for 1-2 hrs. *walking/anaerobic doesn’t do much weight wise.
You also need to reduce intake of sugars, bad carbs and saturated fats. Drink water. Eat healthy. Eating way too little can cause weight retention. You CANNOT lose weight in one specific part of your body, but rather evenly across the body. Counting calories? Just keep ‘em moderate and do the aforementioned.
Some examples of aerobic exercises are running, zumba, dance, hard swimming, p90x, insanity, sports et cetera. Get your heart a pumpin’.
It will take dedication but the payoff is well worth it. Easy things are not worthwhile.
Take care!

It depends, that's how long it would take you to lose 4 pants sizes.

Can't reach my goal weight, advice?

I am 5'5 -5'6 and I weigh 124. (Amazingly) I've already lost 35 lbs over 9-10 months.

But I am stuck now. My goal is 120. And all I want is to say I reached my goal. I've accomplished my goal. I just can't settle at the 124 mark.

I've tried so many different exercises daily. But I am at a brick wall.
Any advice to beat this plateau?
Thanks!

I got stuck at around 120 lbs in my last plateau (I'm a bit shorter than you). So I tried calorie cycling. After a prolonged time at eating a low calorie intake your BMR lowers and your metabolism slows to that amount. So the theory behind calorie cycling is that it wakes up your metabolism and confuses it.
I tried it and actually raised my calories back up (I had dropped from 1400 to 1200 cals for 6 wks and then got stuck) to an avg of 1400 cals and calorie cycled around that number. It's been 2 weeks now and I lost another 5 lbs!

I was a bit skeptical about it at first but have heard so many people including bodybuilders and fitness models raving about it so I thought I'd give it a go and it worked! You can use this calculator to figure out a plan. You have to calculate your daily calorie intake and then it will give you the option of choosing a calorie cycling plan (zig zag diet plan): http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

Help me improve on my diet plan to get toned/ripped?

I am 6ft4, 13 stone and 15% body fat. I would like to get down to 8-10% body fat, but i need a good diet plan.
I have a bit muscle, and i don't want to lose it. If someone could link me, or copy their own diet plan then it would be much appreciated.

My current diet plan looks like this:

Breakfast - Porridge
Snack - Protein Bar
Lunch - Tuna or chicken salad
Before gym - Banana & half a protein bar
After gym - Protein shake, and the other half of protein bar
Dinner - Chicken, brown rice and salad/veg
Evening - Glass of milk

Protein bars contain (21g protein, 38.2g carbs, 8.2g fat, 2.9g sat fats)

Should i make any adjustments to mine that could help me lose weight, and also build good muscle structure.

I basically want a body similar to this http://munfitnessblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/ryan-reynolds-after-blade-trinity-and-amityville-horror.jpg

Personally what I would do is this:

Breakfast - Porridge (But use low-fat milk / skimmed milk)
Snack - Apple
Lunch - Tuna or chicken salad (stay away from mayonnaise, salad cream or any other fatty sauce)
Before gym - Banana & half a protein bar
After gym - Half a protein bar / or another apple
Dinner - Chicken, brown rice ad salad/veg
Evening - another fruit

Why so many fruits? Fruit has been proven to contain all the necessary components your body needs to losing weight and building muscle. Believe it or not, it has protein in it!

Cut out as much dairy foods as possible as they normally contain high levels of fat, also drink A LOT of water. Water helps promote weight loss and it helps process any nutrients/vitamins you consume around your body.

Hope this helps!

Does Curves Complete work for a smaller, slightly overweight woman? (10 lbs over)?

I'm wondering, because I'm noticing my larger female counterparts are losing weight quicker. I'm 140 pounds, and need to lose about 10 of that. Here's what I'm thinking:

Larger women were probably eating 3000+ calories a day, due to their food habits. Now that they are put on the 1400 calorie diet, and working out, they are reducing calorie intake, and burning the rest by working out, therefore, results. Because I am 140 pounds anyway, and put on this "diet" that is really my NORMAL intake (140X10 cals a pound=1400), and I am only burning 400 calories a day, THAT is why I'm not even losing a pound week, like the plan claims. 400X7 days a week=2800 calories burned, and there are 3500 cals in a pound. therefore, ALMOST a pound burned. I'm really burning about .75 pounds, as opposed the the 1.0 I'm supposed to.

Any one else see this flaw? I get weighed once a week, and get let down everytime because not even a pound has been burned. I think I need to be on a 1200 cal diet.

BTW, I work out 5 times a week and do an ADDITIONAL 4 Zumba classes....

Thoughts? I'd love your feedback.

Are you following the Curves Complete plan or watching others who are following it? I'm a little uncertain due to the wording of your title. If you aren't following it and asking if it would work for you, then the answer is YES! If you are following it and you're asking for advice on how to get better results, here are some things to think about:

The meal plan needs to be followed closely. It's not only about how much you eat (straight calories in) vs WHAT you eat and when! It's important to eat the snacks to keep your metabolism going throughout the day. It's important to make sure you choose good substitutions if things aren't specifically listed in your plan. You want a good balance of carbs, fats, protein, etc. As a general guideline no female is recommended to go below 1200 calories a day.

Your workouts need to be evaluated. Are you really pushing yourself every time? I'm not sure if they have Curves Smart at your particular club but that is a good way to measure your workout intensity! Use your tag if they do! Otherwise is your heart rate up like it should be every time you reach the stepper machine? Are you breaking a sweat? If not you know you need to push harder. If you ARE working out very hard, it's possible you could be training a little aggressively and might need to eat a little MORE! Our bodies are funny about this (especially when we're trying to trim the last few pounds!) and will go into defense mode to store the fat that we have if we aren't fueling them enough. Workouts should not only be about burning calories to create a deficit but also for maintaining and increasing muscles. If you are a heavy trainer you actually need to eat BACK some of the calories you burn! You might want to pick a few days a week and actually add in a small meal (maybe 300 cals - make sure it's something healthy) and see if that will rev up your metabolism some.

You say that you haven't been seeing results on the scale, but have they been measuring you? Are your inches changing at all? Check the inches and body fat %. Sometimes we get an unrealistic goal of a "weight" we want when really we should focus on the size and shape of our body!

As far as weight loss goes, we tell people you can lose 1-2 pounds a week because that's the most you should aim to lose to get pure fat loss. Especially as a slightly overweight person - larger people can get bigger numbers at first because of exactly the things you said! Generally speaking, an aggressive approach is to lose 1% of your overall body weight per week. Your max per week should be around 1.4 pounds so if you were to lose .75 in a week that would actually be pretty reasonable.

Sorry if this is a little long or random, there are so many factors to this and I'm trying to touch a little on everything. If you ARE following the Curves Complete plan this is something you should discuss with your coach! She should be able to help you get through this plateau. If you aren't on the program then it might be just what you need.

  • building muscle is better for you in the long run..
  • Lock yourself to a threadmill so you can never escape. put it on maximum speed. place super slippery walls, so you can never ever stop running. If you get tired, and stop running, you are forced to run, because of your legs getting scraped off its skin by the threadmill if you stop running. Have a friend feed you four times a day, do this for a week, and i promisse you, you will get all better, though some pretty nasty feet, which will heal pretty quickly.
  • OK...... first download an app on whichever phone u using which records your running time, distance, etc and you have to give yourself a target maybe 1km a day or any u like and jogging is the best way of losing fats im also fat but after jogs for few month i slim down and don't eat too much fatty stuff especially kfc and etc.....
  • You should go and see your doctor and tell them, just remember losing weight isn't a quick fix but it seems you already know that :)
Ask your doctor about seeing a dietitian to set you up a good meal plan for you to lose weight, and try to get in 30-60 mins of cardio at least, like a jog and walk or something. As you're still pretty young you probably shouldn't go too hard with the exercise but if you get a good meal plan to follow it will work wonders in helping you lose weight ^-^

How to lose 3 kg in a month for 4 months?

Fastest Way to Lose Weight

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It's not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

Six Simple Ways For You To Lose Weight

Recommended Answer:
Sorry for the generally late reply :). Okay to start off, you want to drink as much water as you can. Try for 80oz, it sound like a ton but just 1 bottle before school, 1 during, 1 at lunch,1 after school, and 1 with dinner. at first it'll feel like alot but you'll get used to it. Fat holds water, so if you dont have enough it holds on to it. If you want to loose weight by summer, you need to be determined because excercising can be annoying. Running (I was an awful runner) is amazing. If you can find a running class or a running buddy or maybe just running by yourself, you'll find yourslef loosing a lot of weight. (i know from experience) start by running 1 minute and walking 2 minutes and repeat this 7 times, 2-3 times a week. next go to run 1 walk 1, then run 2 walk 1, then run 3 walk 1, etc. If you dotn want to run look at this video (it'll help you get a flatter stomach) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMKsdwh4pws now on to eating, try to avoid junk food anything like cake and cheetos. dont eat anything but milk or water at least two hours before bed. anything you eat turns to fat. I hope i helped!!
