Is running a good way to trim fat off the body and exercise the legs?

I've been trying to get in shape the past three years. When I started, my asthma was so bad that I ran 400 meters and needed an inhaler plus a break or I couldn't breathe. Also, the winter air was brutal on my lungs. At 16 I was able to lose a considerable amout of weight after dieting and exercising as much as I could. I weighed 180 at the time. Now I weigh 160 but I also gained a lot of muscle mass. The doctor used to classify me as obese, now I am at an "average" as far as BMI is concerned. I have a decent base of strength. I can support my body weight and then some.My issue is however, I have a bit of fat on my stomach, thighs and arms. I have man boobs and a belly. At a distance it won't be noticed, but as you get closer you will see it. If I am wearing a shirt, you would think that I am skinny but when I take it off you would see I am a bit chubby.Mind you I only recently started running with more effort. Up until recently I only ran 3 minutes straight, then walked 5 minutes because that was the most I could handle.I am fairly certain I have beat out my asthma as I just ran 45 minutes straight! I didn't even need medicine this morning. I'm still unsure about the cold air though... I've been using an iphone 10k trainer appBut will running help me trim fat? Also, is running a good leg workout or do I still need to do weights for my legs?I don't know much about exercise and I was pretty much alone in all of this.

How to Lose Stomach Weight Fast

I love your effort. In my amateur opinion and based upon experience, you should do crunches, aerobic activities to lose weight apart from running because it builds muscles. Also, you could lose the fat first by lowering your caloric intake, do long walks instead, and then tone or tighten your muscles by running. (If you have too much fat, rigorous activities is the perfect quotient for a heart attack. Your waist line shouldn't exceed 36" because it could lead to other problems, too. Check out one of the studies here, http://channels.isp.netscape.com/homerealestate/package.jsp?name=fte/waist37/waist37.)If you have an ideal BMI in mind, find out what your weight should be and the amount of calories you need to get there and maintain it. A calorie counter, http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm, will help with this, and learn what's in your food, http://calorielab.com/index.html.I know people who never stepped in a gym and have visibly beautiful muscles. In addition to running, you could cycle or pedal while sitting in a chair. Even better, stretch out your legs and flex your feet as far up and back as they could go holding each for a second and count as many as you could and push each day for the same amount. The body works best when it's programmed, so do 50-100 and each week add more seconds while doing that amount every day. You will see your calves contracting and retracting. If you could do this five times a week, you will see results in a month.Hey, but don't forget, you should consult with your doctor before you start any exercise regimen.PS: Being my own doctor keeps me out of the doctors office. Prevention is always good!

  • Obviously, running is a great way to trim fat and exercise the legs. What matters is the duration and intensity of your running. For example running sprints up San Francisco hills is more intense than jogging around the track at the YMCA.

You can even lose weight without any exercise at all. But you need to cut out all processed foods. Anything in packets, boxes, tins, bottles, frozen, etc. The preservatives alone do make you gain weight.Drink lots of water and avoid having too many smoothies as they can make you put on weight. Yes I made my own fruit Smoothies a few years back and I gain 6lbs !!! Cut out bread as it's like liquid beer. Cut out all fizzy/soda drinks. If you jump rope/skip for 10 mins it's the same as jogging for 30 mins! Having junk food once a month is OK so don't let anyone make you feel bad.

  • There is literally no way we can help you. You have to motivate yourself.
  • Hi if i want to get motivated just i check some weight loss success story or a great program on TV i like to watch in MTV
  • Weight loss is all about calories in vs calories out. 500 calories from pizza is the same as 500 calories from vegetables. Obviously "healthy" foods are higher in micronutrients and do aid overall health, but they don't aid weight loss.If you haven't already, work out your maintenance calories (there are calculators all over the internet, I would use the TDEE calculator on IIFYM) and eat 300-500 calories below maintenance. Re-calculate your maintenance every few weeks because it will change as you lose weight. Base the most part of your diet around "healthy" foods, but leave yourself about 10-20% of your daily calories daily for foods you enjoy eating. What you're doing is called "If it fits your macros" which I would recommend reading about. As for motivation, think of the end result and set yourself lots of short term goals, reaching those goals is a great achievement and should motivate you to achieve more.
  • soooo easy!! i mean not to get motivated that is very very hard to be honest but it is soo easy to lose 5-10 pounds! all you have to do is a 10-day diet and drink plenty of green tea and ofcourse just DONT buy donuts or cookies until u get ur ideal body that u want after that eat a LITTLE portion of the stuff you most like and make sure to also get plenty of exercise but dont eat TOO little bit cause then you might get weak and not have the strenght to actually do any exercise at all also eat LOTS and LOTS of fat burning foods like avocado, lemon, bannana, and ofcourse plenty of vegetables and youll have that dream body in no time! but if it takes long the hardest thing of ALL is to be patient but try ur VERY BEST! but i doubt it will take a SUPER long time so i wouldnt worry about how qucikly or slowly if i were u!hope this helped :)

Would you allow your 22 year old daughter to have a sleepover with her boyfriend?

My cousin, who's 19 told my mom that she's having a sleepover with her boyfriend. Then my mom said "I wouldn't even allow my 22 year old daughter(that's me) to have a sleepover with her boyfriend" and I was just thinking why not? I don't have a boyfriend but if I did, I'd be smart to use protection because I don't want anything to get in the way of my career and goals. So would you allow that?I do live in my parents house. But when it's time to go back to school, I live in the dorms. It's just weird thinking that I graduate college next year and I still have strict parents. Well as one Y/A put it, it is their house and their rules!

How to Lose Weight If You Are in a Wheelchair

She technically couldn't stop you unless it was in their own house because if they don't want him there it would be trespassing. I would strongly discourage my daughter against it if I had a daughter in the future, but I don't think I would stop her from going over to his house for a sleepover. I'm 21 I have no doubt that my mom wouldn't let me. Since I'm in college and can't work full time, my mom pays for basically everything. If I ever tried to have a sleepover with a guy she'd threaten to take away everything I have so I wouldn't go. I had a small pile of clothes on my floor and hadn't been making my bed, and she ended up making me sign a contract that if I don't keep my room clean she'll take away all the clothes I have back at my apartment (I'm home for the summer) except for 20 articles of clothing. So ya...to all those people saying you're an adult and you can do what you want, that isn't always the case. Ha. I also had to lose 10 pounds this summer in order to keep my car. I was only 120 pounds at the beginning of the summer. I have pcos and keeping slim helps with that, so I don't want to make them seem totally unreasonable. But it's still overboard in my opinion)

Other Answers:

  • I wouldn't just because I would worry about my child
  • I would. If my daughter wasn't a minor anymore, and responsible, I would.
  • You're an adult. You're your own boss. You don't have to live to your mother's expectations or rules. But, If you're still with living your mother in HER HOUSE, you kind of want to stay on her good side.
  • Never!
  • Not in my moms house. Lol
  • They're legally independent. Even if I didn't allow it, it's not my decision, but there's. I would absolutely allow it, by then they would be smart enough to make good decisions, and if they weren't, they would be the ones suffering consequences. It's not my life, and they can do as they please after 18, but if they make a bunch of foolish mistakes, they can't expect too much help from me either. Of course I would help them, but I'm not going to make decisions for them, their decisions, their consequences.
  • I wouldn't ask, and I wouldn't tell.Your 22 for gods sake. Your an adult. You don't need permission.Besides, I was married and having plenty of sleepovers at 22
  • Umm... You're a legal adult. You should be able to do what ever the heck you want. My mom let my boyfriend stay over when I was 18. As long as she trusts you, I don't see why not.
  • Your 22 she can't stop you.
  • No way.my child will always be my child regardless how old old is he or she.there is no special reason for her to stay there as far as the parents are concerned.
  • A 22 year old is a grown woman, so her parents allowing or not allowing her to do anything is just absurd. But then again if she's still living at home like she's still in high school, then she may have to just suck it up and follow her parents rules. If she doesn't like it, then 22 is MORE than old enough to be moving out and getting her own place.
  • Having to get permission at 22 is more than absurd to me. I am your age and married. I can't imagine needing to ask my mother for permission on anything. I'm an adult, I act like an adult, and get treated like an adult. Must be a real bummer that the same doesn't apply to you.
  • If you want to do that. At least have respect for you mom and move out first
  • "Allow" lol.
  • Once you hit 18 what you do is really not up to your parents lol. When your in their house yeah you respect the rules ie no sleep overs at your house and common courtesy stuff like letting them know where you are etc but as for letting you sleep at someone else's house? Um that isn't really included in the deal. If your parents still support you and you pay them nothing then i guess fair enough but you should be paying your way even if you are still in your parents house. So i guess if you want to be treated as an adult be an adult and adults pay their way.

  • Do the 3 day diet. Google it. 10 pounds in 3 days, eat normal for 3 days do it again. An you've lost 20 pounds!
  • cut your toe nails
  • You never want to starve yourself, AT ALL! 1) exercise at least 1 hour a day. Examples: walking for 30 minutes. Then jogging or a fast pace walk for the rest of the 30 minutes. What I did is I spaced out my time. Like I would walk after breakfast for 5 or 10 minutes. Then in the afternoon I would play basketball for 20 minutes. I would swim for 2 hours (just because I absolutely love swimming). After dinner I would walk for 10 minutes. A side note on what you could do (and make it intense.) is when you watch TV and commercials come on, I would jog in place or do sit ups or something that involves moving. 2) eat 5 small meals a day. One tip that I have is use smaller plates to trick your brain into thinking that you have more food to eat. Keep the food healthy. Limit yourself to having 1 or 2 a week. Better yet, try to go 1 whole month without a single pop touching your lips. I dare you. Instead of having a cookie, have an apple. Have some fruit. Instead of chips, have veggies. Carrots, celery, broccoli (stop wrinkling your nose lol), lettuce, cabbage, spinach, or peas. Hope it helped! :) Good luck on the new school year!
