If you eat a well-balanced healthy diet and avoid calorie rich foods containing sugars, oils, fats, and flavor enhancers, then your chances of attaining a healthy BMI is high. The exercise is good, but not as important as maintaining a healthy diet.Make sure to eat lots of dark leafy greens (kale, chard, collards), vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and whole fruits. When you eat, make sure to eat a measured portions. Do not wash down your meals with drinks. Do not drink anything 10 minutes before a meal, and do not drink anything within 45 minutes of a meal.Give yourself a fast of at least 12 hours between dinner and breakfast.I lost 100 pounds on a Whole Food, Plant Based (WFPB) diet which for me was a subset of the gluten free vegan diet. Your hair will not stop growing, but water fasting is really not a good idea. ( Fasting with only water actually slows your metabolism way down, so you burn less calories.) I recommend eating a daily serving or two of fruits & veggies *with* your water. These will not make you gain weight, and are actually high in water (and fiber) content. So they will help 'cleanse' your system (along with the water) more. ( Some of the best options are: cucumber, celery, carrots, lettuce, spinach, kale, grapes, oranges, berries, and watermelon) (*Try to buy organic whenever possible.) I also recommend drinking green tea throughout the day (not just water). Green tea has natural vitamins and antioxidants and naturally increases energy and your metabolism. Fruits, veggies and tea all are healthy and contain a lot of vitamins, which will improve your hair and skin, without making you gain weight. Lean protein (like plain chicken, turkey, tuna, salmon or fish) also helps your hair grow (and restores healthy, lean muscle). As long as you buy the kind that is skinless, and free of antiobiotics/horomones, it is very, very healthy and recommended for anyone who is trying to eat healthy or lose weight. (lean protein actually increases your metabolism). **The other thing to really pay attention to is serving size.** One serving of protein = the size and thickness of one palm of your hand for a woman, and 2 palms for a man.For vegetables, One serving of veggies = enough to fill your two hands cupped together. And for fruit, One serving of fruit = a medium sized piece.
