What will help me the most when trying to lose weight?

I thought a lot last night about how I have another 70 years on earth and how I don't want to be overweight and miserable for my entire life. I want to lose weight. What will help the most though? Like is diet more important, exercise, or a combination? So far I am going to start walking anywhere around town and only save my car for out of town, so I will be walking every day for work or the store. I am also going to cut out fried food and foods with excess sugar. What else can I do? I'm 23, 5'11 and 265 pounds. I want to be under 220 lbs

I think a combination of healthy diet and exercise is the best way to go. Sometimes it is easier to focus on just one thing at a time though especially if you are just starting out. I would try to get moving first then slowly start working on what you eat. Walking and cutting out junk food is a very good start.Good luck!

  • its 80% diet, 20% exercise. cutting out all junk, sugars and soda and just eat healthy home cooked foods. cut down on carbs and switch to wholegrains, no refined white carbs like white rice, pasta and white bread.
  • I believe what you need to do is to get on a nutrition plan that will help you eat properly based on a set caloric amount to reach your goals. Exercise helps tremendously but you have to be on the right plan to get there. We are here to help you. Visit OW2L.blogspot.com to get more information & free fitness coaching!

How to Lose Weight Without Counting Calories

there is no problem to eat meat 2-3 times weekly just don't eat any food after 8 PM and do some jogging everyday and 20 crunches everyday for one week and the next week you can go with 30 crunches but don't think that if you don't eat meat it will make the things go faster.Oh and drink a lot of water A LOT !Good luck !

  • That will work, yes. But you should also make sure you get enough carbs, vitamins, and minerals.
  • You should eat foods that have high protein and low fats. Foods like lean chicken or yogurt. But other than that you should be losing weight in no time!
  • If it is just your stomach you want to target, you could do 10 sit ups a day to kick start the process and any stretching type exercises - check out a stretching exercise book. You will lose weight anyway by changing your diet as you describe but you also need lean protein as you are still growing so don't forget the chicken breast or lean steak a couple of times a week at least and some beans, lentils too.
  • I think its a great idea, but you need to have a cheat day. Trust me, i have the same problem as you, but veggies and fruits get boaring if its all you ever eat. Try making a cheat day evrey 2 weeks, but limit yourself to only a few junk foods that day, like a soda and a chocolate bar. I go by a low carb diet, but there are many diffrent ways to diet. I have trouble loosing wheight though because i tend to cheat often.... Good luck and i hope you reach you're desierd goal!

  • I'm done with my weight loss journey and completely happy with how I feel and how I look right now however losing weight is a challenge for anyone and even losing 5 pounds and keeping it off isn't an easy task. Also I bet you didn't know that 5 pounds of fat is about the size of 8 cheese burgers? That alone should be enough to make anyone want to get on the ball and start a change for the better. Weight loss can be really easy to learn but the problem is nobody wants to put the required effort that is needed to actually do it, instead people continually look for (easy) ways to do it. If there was an easy way to lose weight I don't think 35% of Americans would be obese. There was a time when I also wanted to lose weight and was tired of starting diets only to lose motivation and give up just a few weeks later after seeing no results. However, let me tell you it is literally one of the easiest things you will ever learn once you find a good and reputable place to learn it from and I say that only because the world is filled with magic diet pills, liquid flush diets and a thousand other quick fixes that promise xx pounds of weight loss in the first week and even though it is impossible they know you're going to do it because your desperate. I have probably tried every diet pill, liquid flush diet, and ab rocket machine known to man and have had no success with any of them nor do I know anyone that has ever had any success with them. I have also tried starving myself which works very well for the first few weeks' right before your metabolism comes to a complete stop and eating just the tiny bit makes you gain weight and you end up weighing more than you did before you started starving yourself. Companies promote weight loss to make money not to get people healthy again and that's because they know you're not going to be a customer and buy their products if you're no longer fat. http://fatloossfactor.com is a site I want you to go to when you have 10 or 20 minutes to spare and I want you to sit down and watch his video on weight loss. He helps people every day to lose weight I have never seen someone as committed as him and that will go so far out of his way to help someone. His weight loss program is one of the best I have ever had the enjoyment of doing and it is without doubt the best success I have ever had with any weight loss program. I also couldn't be happier with my body right now and I have never felt this wonderful in my whole life. In the end you just got to remember to stick with it and stay confident in yourself and in no time you can achieve the results you have always wanted. It's not hard to lose weight but most people have a hard time staying motivated and 9 times out of 10 it was because they weren't really committed from the beginning. Anyways I hope I helped you and I hope you make the commitment to change your body and life. Remember it's not easy to take the first step but you did, you're here right now taking it and the rest of the steps will fall into place. Have a wonderful day.

Does our body crave unhealthy food?

I know I''m not the only one who thinks about digging in to some oreos, a candy bar, or a bag of chips haha. Is it our body that craves things such a junk food, or after is it after our tongue tastes them that our brain makes us think that''s what we want? Because in my opinion, healthy fruits and veggies aren''t nasty they actually taste good but I don''t crave them as much.

What''s the Quickest Way to Lose Weight? - In One Week

Recommended Answer:
Our bodies can certainly crave unhealthy foods which typically are loaded with carbohydrates which easily convert to sugar. This basically comes about because of the sugar rollercoaster our body is on when we consume lots of carbs. We consume carbs, which quickly convert to sugar in our bodies. Insulin is produced to metabolize this sugar and out blood sugar level begins to drop. When the blood sugar level drops below a certain level we start to crave more carbs to raise blood sugar level again and the cycle repeats. Fat and protein do not convert to sugar so quickly so when you consume them you don''t go on the same rollercoaster ride. Your body is better able to maintain a more stable sugar level. Because of this, a low fat diet is often counterproductive for people trying to lose weight because those fat calories are often replaced with carbs which cause the rollercoaster and cause you to consume even more calories overall than if you if you consume fat.

You can probably develop cravings for healthy foods, but unhealthy foods are soooo much more accessible. They are conveniently packaged; often require no preparation; are tasty; and are everywhere. When you go to a movie theater your are offered popcorn and candy, and various other junk foods. I''ve never seen them offer a bag of carrots and broccoli and some hummus to dip it in.

  • Our body craves sugars that break down quickly. Regardless of where it comes from.
  • there addictive and taste sooo good
  • Our bodies don''t, but our minds do. Sure, your tongue is part of your body, but the impulses go back to the mind. The brain tells it to salivate, not the tongue making itself do it.

  • THE EVOLUTION OF CRAVING

Experts believe that cravings occur for a variety of reasons. They attribute them to evolution, psychological factors such as stress and unhappiness, and - sometimes - a genuine need for certain foods.

''It''s crucial to remember that a food craving is not simply hunger,'' says Professor Andrew Hill, Head of the Academic Unit of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences at Leeds University.

Hunger is the body''s way of making sure it is provided with energy, in the form of nutrients from food. When the stomach is empty, it releases the hormone ghrelin, which communicates with the brain''s command centre, the hypothalamus. This creates the feeling of hunger and is how we know when to eat.

Satiation is signalled by the release of the hormones leptin by fat cells, and insulin by the pancreas, in response to increased blood sugar.

Cravings, however, are much more complex.
  • I do not crave junk food in fact I don''t like it at all. You will only crave them if you get addicted to the high levels of sugar and salt. My preference is always for real food.

Is it better to decrease calorie intake gradually or all at once?

Would my body respond better to a gradual reduction in calories? For example instead of going straight to 1300 calories a day would it be better to decrease a little each week?

Weight Loss - Are You Fighting With Yourself to Lose Weight?

Recommended Answer:
gradually. doing it all at once is too much of a shock for your body. you''ll lose the weight, but your metabolism will slow down much quicker too

  • I decreased right away and say the best results, try eating foods that fill you up, with less calories, like oatmeal! And special K bars!
  • Oh child you have so much to learn. I am as well eating in a more proper manner to obtain the great body i wishfully desire. What you believe is obsurd. To lose weight you must reduce your carb, sodium and fat intake, not calories. Calories are a unit of measurment for energy. What are you going to eat? Those 90 calorie bars...little do you know those bars have almost 20 grams of carbs and sugars! Almost as much carbs as a banana! And that bar is probably filled with simple carbs! Honestly, you must know how to lose weight properly or else u will so no results
