I'm a fat teen and nothing I do helps me lose weight?

I eat substantially less than I am supposed to, exercise about 4 days a week, and I haven't lost a single pound. People say I look like I have lost weight but it's easy to tell they are doing it to cheer me up. I hate myself beyond belief, probably more than anyone realizes, but I'm not stupid enough to cut or commit suicide. I'm desperate, and I seriously need to lose weight. I am 14 years old and 200 pounds (Male). What can I do to lose weight? Thanks in advance.

Eating way less than you're supposed to will do one thing - send your body into shock whereby it will begin using protein as a means of energy creation. You're right in the sense that you need a calorie deficit in order to lose weight, but this calorie deficit should be around 20%. So, if your calorie requirement is 2500, you should aim for a calorie intake of around 2500 - (2500*0.2) = 2000 calories. These figures are just rough guides and you'll need to work your calorie requirement out for yourself. This is more difficult at your age because you're still growing which means you're burning more calories than an adult - good news in the sense that a healthy diet will produce great results. The best thing you can do to lose weight is to control your blood sugar levels. Foods such as white bread, candy, high fructose corn syrup drinks (cola), white sugar, crisps, etc. will all cause massive blood sugar (glucose) spikes which will lead to an insulin spike. The insulin will push glucose into your muscle cells, and when your muscle cells are full it will push the glucose into fat cells. The insulin spike will then cause a blood sugar crash, you begin craving sweet foods, these cause another blood sugar spike and the whole cycle is repeated - the end result is weight gain. Thus, avoid all the above mentioned foods.Aim to get your carbohydrates from foods with low glycemic load. i.e. vegetables, salads and fruits (avoid fruit juice; fruit juice as it has been stripped of fibre and causes blood sugar spikes).Have a lean source of protein with every meal.Try to eat 6 meals a day - 3 main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and 2 snacks (mid-morning and mid-afternoon).I have detailed diet and workout routines in the following question. In order to not do a copy and paste job, please have a read through it.http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkIqvXcdaz57EWa40G4nswjsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20130903160823AA04Gn0The good news is you're at an age where your body is phenomenally adaptable. If you have the willpower to follow through with your goals, you will have amazing results. All the best.

  • Just do what lots of people don't know about. Go on a straight tuna and water diet.. Keep in mind you have to eat the tuna raw out of the can. And drink plenty of water.
  • It is sometimes difficult to loose weight, if you are teen and still developing. But I would suggest to eat how much you want but healthy diet. A lot of vegetables and lean meat. You can't possibly gain too much weight on that. And keep working out. Make it your lifestyle.Just do not get discouraged, it takes time to loose weight. You will see you will be fine and feel a lot better.
  • Make sure you're getting adequate sleep! Studies have revealed that lack of sleep is one of the factors contributing to obesity! Yes, if you don't get enough sleep, you're highly disposed towards gaining weight around the abdominal region - even if you eat like a traveling monk! This happens due to disrupted rhythm of metabolism that occurs as a consequence of chronic lack of sleep. And 200lbs at 14 isn't that bad. I was 160lbs at 14, my friend, who's not fat at all was 180lbs. Do lots of cardio, and drink plenty of water. Stay away from junk food and stick to veggies and other foods low in fats, sugars, and sodium, and high in fiber, protein, vitamins, and omega 3 fatty acids. One rule I like is "if it tastes good, spit it out."
  • Here's a secret: you can eat whatever you want as long as you do the amount of exercise required to burn that food off.If you want to lose weight you need to be exercising at least 30 minutes every single day. It also doesn't matter if you are eating less. It's all about what you're eating, if you are eating less but the food is unhealthy then you won't lose much.A good exercise regime would be to sprint 3 times a day. So all you need to do is flat out sprint and when you get tired stop and wait until you get enough energy to sprint again, then you sprint again. Then do the same thing until you have sprinted 3 times. Once you've done it the third time turn around and walk back to where you started. So in conclusion watch how much you eat and what you're eating and exercise everyday. Plus get plenty of water and sleep.
  • you can't just "eat less" ..it's not how it works ..you have to eat healthy ..no more chocolate, junk food, whatever ..and I mean it ..don't be like .."how I can have one burger or a slice of pizza" ..no YOU CAN'T ..forget about it ..you should eat only chicken meat without extra sauce and no more macaroni and fries ..you have to eat vegetables and less bread ..you can eat eggs ..and try not to each too much ..you may wanna work out every day ..go running..that will belp you a lot .start doing some sports for real you know ..sign up for soccer training or whatever ..good luck
  • Eating substantially less might be your problem. It causes your metabolism to shut down and you'll burn muscle rather than fat.You need to not worry about the quantity that you eat and instead worry about the quality. You should eat plenty of non-starchy vegetables - green beans, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cucumbers, lettuce, cauliflower, asparagus, carrots, kale, etc.You should also eat adequate protein and good fats - grass fed meat, fish, eggs, cheeses, nuts & seeds. You should NOT eat any sugars or starchy foods - potatoes, rice, bread, wheat, flour, pasta, sugar, honey, etc. This is a totally DO NOT EAT.You can slip in fruit occasionally, but no more than one per day.Only eat food that requires refrigeration, freezing or to be stored in a dark, cool place. Only eat real food.If you can do this diet you can eat as much of it as you want. You're very unlikely to be able to eat too many calories. You will have an abundance of nutrients. And you will feel full and you will lose weight (fat) in the fastest way possible. Exercise is recommended but it is optional.
  • 1st- drink half your pounds in water every day. What that means is 200/2=100 oz of water. drink even more if your exercising and sweating. 2nd- fat in your food is NOT bad. You NEED natural unsaturated fats like olive oil and butter to burn stored fat. 3rd if its labeled diet, or sugar free, don't eat it. Even though it sounds healthier, it's full of chemicals that make it hard to burn your body fat. Eating less than normal sends your body in to starvation prevention mode, and lowers your metabolism. You should eat plenty of the healthy stuff especially dark green veggies. Exercise a minimum of an hour total per day of exercise that actually makes you sweat 5 days a week. You can do it all at once or a half hour at a time, but don't stop for frequent breaks, because it cools you down and you don't burn as much calories. I like to do 3 types of exercise. I like to do a brisk 5 mile walk, just enough to stay sweaty the whole time, go for distance not speed. Then I do my exercises, like squats and pushups and stuff, that strengthens my muscles. And lastly I do a high intensity circuit routines 3 days a week, they act as my super fat burners, but if you over do them it only hurts you, so I only do them on non-consecutive days. Try signing up for a program like Sparkteens. It will tell you exactly what to do, and even set up an effective exercise program for you. It also helps to have a buddy, either a close friend or even someone online to talk to everyday to keep you motivated and on track. I hope this helps.
