I am concerned about my ex. He has always been underweight, but these last four months he just keeps getting smaller. At first I thought he just wasn't eating enough due to a mouth injury. But he has spent the last 2 weeks in the hospital with an infection. (complication of original injury) For the last week he has been doubling every meal and in an attempt to gain some weight. Yet somehow he is 6' tall and down to 115 pounds. How can this happen? He says it is just the steroid shots increasing his already-high metabolism. I knew they could make you want to eat more, but I thought if you ate more while taking steroids, you would gain weight?Smile, I guess that would explain some of it :) I bet his body is using extra calories trying to get well. ... I just can't help worrying that maybe he had internal injuries to his digestive tract too and they didn't notice since he had so many other life-threatening problems. Thanks. I am still worried, but your answer did make me feel a little better.
How to Lose Weight With Portion Control
Recommended Answer:
My doctor gave me oral steroids as a kid, probably for some allergy or cold-related ailment. It made me super hungry! I didn't gain weight from it.Maybe your boyfriend's injury plus infection have really taken a toll on his body, and that his body is using up all of it's energy (calories) trying to repair itself. The body uses lots of calories just to stay alive each day, so if you've got a cold or injury then it works harder to get better. That could be what is going on. Good luck!
Other Answers:
- Steroids are notorious for weight gain. Absolutely famous for it. Something doesn't add up. Fast metabolism or not.
- They will make you gain more weight. Its either he's taking a cutting steroid or hes got some bunk gear.
