*NOT A WEIGHT LOSS DIET* Vegetarian diet/diet plan that focuses on protein and other vitamins from meat?

I'm 16, and I've been a vegetarian for a year. Unfortunately, I don't eat as well as most vegetarians, meaning my meals are mostly cheese pizzas and goldfish. My mom is very concerned with the lack of vitamins and minerals that I get in my diet, especially protein, because I don't eat meat. As she described it, my diet is almost entirely "sugar, flour, and dyes". I'm not fat by any means, but can someone provide helpful advice on better meals and snacks? I'm not a huge fan of tofu, but if it's a necessity, I'll try to get use to it. My mom thinks that my poor eating habits are also having a negative effect on my mood as well as attentiveness. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you! :)Turd Sandwich, your bitterness stings, but don't call me stupid or any other vegetarian that. Not to be an ass back, but vegetarians refrain from meat and products that come from the killing of an animal. Milking doesn't kill a cow, in fact, not milking the cow would be MORE painful than not. You're thinking of vegans. Don't generalize when you don't know what you're talking about. Thanks for the long answer and recommendations, I'll probably make you best answer. Just don't be a turd next time, and don't talk out of your ass. (Get it? Because your name is turd sandwich. Haha)

Lmao. you know that cheese comes from cows, right sweetheart? Vegetarians. The stupidity never ceases to amaze me.Now that I've got that out of my system, I'll play nice and let you know that legumes are by far the best dietary source of protein besides meat, with some grains providing a decent amount as well. Nothing beats meat, but legumes and select grains are as close as you're gonna get. Black beans, kidney beans, lentils, chick peas, quinoa, oats and brown rice. Fruit and vegetables in general just have very negligible amounts of protein. I believe broccoli is one of the most protein-rich veggies, and it doesn't have that much at all. Plant protein is also less bio-available than animal protein, with the cell walls of plant cells often interfering with absorption. On average, about 95% of the protein in animal foods is absorbed compared to 70%-75% of the protein in plant food. If you don't eat meat, then, like pretty much all vegetarians, you are going to need to take a vitamin B12 supplement because it is extremely hard to meet your daily needs for that without eating meat. But if you're hypocritical enough to eat cheese, then logically that should also mean that you are hypocritical enough to consume milk, which is naturally a great source of protein since it comes from cows. Make sure to go for 1% or skim (if you don't mind the taste) to avoid the saturated fat that comes with whole. 2% is obviously better than whole but still a decent amount of sat fat in there.

  • Eat veggies and no meat. Then protein bars and shakes.
