How do I lose weight without exercising?

I'm 16 and very fragile. I often faint if I'm in the sunlight or outside during a warm day, so mostly in spring, summer, and early fall. I don't faint at all in late fall or winter.I can't go to the gym because I'll faint if I try to go on a treadmill or eliptical, the first time I went on a treadmill I couldn't continue after 6 minutes. And I can only go outside to walk after sundown, but my parents don't want me doing that because they say it's not safe. Please don't get the impression that I'm a skin and bones anorexic girl, if that's what you image from what I said about myself...I'm actually overweight and look nothing like a fragile person. My problem is that I'm always eating (mainly rice, fruits, breads, and fish and chicken). I know it may sound healthy, but I guess I eat them in large quantities or else I wouldn't be fat. I wish I could workout at a gym like any other 16 year old, but I'm not able to. The only exercises I can do (for a good amount of working out without fainting) must be:- someplace cool and shady: so indoors with AC or outdoors, but not in the heat or sunlight. Nighttime, or in cool/cold weather like the winter.- Nothing "intense": so, you won't be finding me running on the treadmill. I can do light yoga, volleyball on a cool afternoon...I have limited choices, but just think workouts that are calm and mellow. Most importantly, what should and shouldn't I eat? Can you make a list of foods never to eat, and a list of foods I should always be eating? Thanks, by the way, my goal is to lose 60 pounds in 8 months...is that possible for someone like me? Healthy eating, but minimal exercise, can I lose 60 lbs by April 2014? - Phoebe :)

Recommended Answer:

For weight loss, dieting is more effective than exercise. Reducing your intake of junk sugar will help as in items 22 and 106 in http://www.rheumatic.org/sugar.htm The natural sugars in fruits are OK as they are metabolised to glucose slowly due to their high fiber content. Fruits are low in calories and are not fattening. Most fruits are metabolism boosting foods and most vegetables as well and that helps for weight loss.

  • Well one thing you can do is drink Water and at Just lemon on it like slices and then pour it . This will be very good for you and can give your great skin for a bonus ! Or you can eat something healthy throughout the day !(: Good Luck!!

  • It isn't healthy to lose weight without a balance of exercise and nutrition. If you are not strong enough to do everyday things you need to focus on being healthy. It sounds like your health is really at risk. You need to speak with a doctor who knows your situation better. You shouldn't try to lose weight until you find out why you feel faint from such simple things. Work on learning how to get better nutrition, and how to begin exercising. Good luck! Please don't participate in any fad diets. Speak to the people who know what they're talking about, the ones with degrees- dieticians, doctors, and physical trainers.
  • If you eat around a 1200cal diet every day. And maybe can you dance? My grandma danced to get better after a hip surgery swimming? A walk around the house. Try to keep a tiny bit active if possible.
  • Its more like asking how do you survive without food. Actually you can maybe for couple days. Same applies here. You can lose weight without exercise maybe a little. I mean weight NOT FAT. You will still look fat if you dont have any muscles on you. Now back to answer , Control your calorie intakes, go for complex carbohydrates, high protein and healthy fats(like olive oil, almonds, avocado....). ...muscles burn more calories than fat, so if you hit the gym and start building your muscle, then your metabolism spikes up burn your calorie even more and you will look great.
