How do I lose weight?

I'm 15 years old and I'm a girl. I weigh 140 pounds and I'm 5 foot 1. I have been playing football for about 6 weeks. We have some pretty intense workouts and we're on restricted diets, but I've gained weight. Yeah, yeah, muscle weighs more than fat, I know. I've gained muscle but where's all the fat going? Nowhere. How do I get rid of the fat?

How to Get Motivated to Lose Weight

okay, to get into shape , speed up your metabolism, rid yourself of excess fat and lose weight ,,,,,do as follows: Stop drinking & smoking (if you do this regularly) eat fruits & vegetables all you can (buy a slow cooker /food steamer & rice/pasta cooker to make it easy on you)...(vegetables might not seem "tasty", like junk foods,, but can be as you aquire your taste to them..and are loaded with energy and nutrients)...avoid all junk food, cokes, sweets, etc...and drink mainly water (green tea , juice & milk being the other options you drink). If you eat meat ,,use only steamed, baking or grilled methods for preparing fish or chicken. also, do an hour of walking each day at least. or some type of excercise. * you should lose about 10 lbs per month ** for a very quick, healthy "snack"..try eating French Vanilla or Natural Plain yogurt with honey mixed in with it..you can even add nuts to it. It is a famous thing to eat in Greece. ***also learn how to make "huumus" (look online for very easy recipe)..it fills you up and is very low in calories and is very tasty.

  • You can't spot reduce fat, so if you're looking at a certain part of your body like "Why is this fat still here?", you're pretty stupid. As for getting rid of fat, just do lots and lots of cardio.
  • First of all, you don't just lose FAT--you lose WEIGHT--that means that if you diet excessively or too drastically, you can lose muscle along with the fat. Cardio training causes this--it kicks up your metabolism very high WHILE you're doing it, but afterwards, your body does not retain that high level and actually conserves fat in your cells while resting. You're doing workouts now--and presumably, you're building muscle--which is good for you. Your metabolism will stay high all the time. Don't change anything just yet. Especially if you're working out hard right now. Adding cardio can actually slow down this process. And don't focus on the NUMBERS--at your height, your weight may be fine--it is more important to find out how much fat you actually have over all--by doing BMI measurements. You need between 21-26% of your total body weight to be in fat to be and STAY healthy and fit.

My nutritionist says I need to eat 240 g of carbohydrates per day to lose weight and control my glucose.?

She has prescribed three main meals (60 g of carbs each) and two in between-meals snacks 30 g each). For example my breakfast this morning was 4 slices of LGI bread, 2 boiled eggs and 2 slices of tomato. Can anyone out there comment on this. I am diabetic (type 2 and am on glucophage and diamicron) and obese and do want to lose weight. I am weighing 170 kgs (374.786 pounds or 26.77 stones). I do brisk walking for 1 hour every morning. Am I on the right track?

How to Set a Weekly Weight Loss Goal

To my mind, this is far too much carbohydrate. I was in your situation six months ago and I've been having 70 gm of carbohydrate each day for that long. I've lost 40 pounds and my Type 2 is totally under control to the point where I never have a high glucose reading. I don't take any medication at all. 240g is far too much - someone with NO diabetes at all would be eating that much. Four slices of bread at any meal is a crazy amount ! I haven't had a slice of bread for six months. If you want to control your diabetes and lose weight you need to cut out all bread, all potatoes, all cookies, all sugars. Your breakfast should be the eggs and tomatoes - not all that bread. If you keep eating like this, in six months you'll be the same as you are now. My suggestion - change your dietician. Get a copy of "The Diabetes Miracle" by Diana Kress ( a diabetic herself, and a dietician ) , and get on the road to recovery .

  • Just go with what your medical team recommends since they've accessed everything. They've taken your weight, physical condition, glucose level, what you have been used to eating, etc. all into consideration and are STARTing you on a new road to healthier living. As you start to lose weight, they'll probably adjust your carb amount to reflect the slimmer body you'll be sporting. It sounds like you're doing great, just keep it up.
  • Too many carbs are what makes us fat.Four pieces of bread at breakfast is crazy.Try three eggs, scrambled with ham and cheese. You can still have the a whole tomato.Lunch: try a huge salad with some protein.Try an all veggies salad without lettuce if you like.Add a piece of fruit.Dinner should be protein and veggies. The low carb ones. For after dinner, try 4oz of yogurt or half a glass of milk.Keep up the running.Great work.I wish you the best.
