How many calories should a sedentary teenage girl take in daily to lose weight?

5'4"12216 years oldI have been trying to get back down to my healthier weight of 112 but havent been successful for a long time. Have you ever just felt completely defeated at times because something so seemingly simple ends up seeming impossible? That's what it keeps feeling like. And I fall to the wrong solutions too often: eating too few calories, fasting, eating just right then getting impatient and eating too few, then bingeing. It's very unhealthy. So, does anyone have the answer for my title question? I am sick of wasting away all this effort and just want to be healthy. Thanks!Oh and I am a vegan, am too busy with yearbook and other school stuff to want to squeeze in exercise. It is what it is, some people aren't a lick interested in working out. I'm a low key, chill kind of person. I am always reading, doing my artwork, doing yearbook (ALWAYS busy with that) and other IB school stuff, so relaxation is my best friend- and working out has always been out of the question. So, calorie wise --whats the intake to lose weight?---sorry, I'm very wordy---

How to Lose Weight Without Diet Pills

Personally I think your 122 is pretty normal. If you want to get it down, you really have to just diet properly and start exercising. And I don't mean exercising for 1 month to lose weight and then never doing it again... this would be pointless wouldn't it? Permanent lifestyle changes are important.Eat only lean white meats and green veggies. You can have a few fruits during the day too, that's completely ok. Do no drink anything fattier than skim milk. No orange juice, soda, etc. Only water during the day.You don't mention exercise at all, so like i said before; start exercising. Many young girls do not have this concept of working out and exercising and they end up having to starve themselves or go on crazy low calorie diets to lose weight. This isn't the healthy way to do it. Go jogging, ride a bicycle, or walk on the treadmill/elliptical for 30 mins a day. You will def. get down to 112.Good luck! Work hard, be dedicated and make it your goal. Forget facebook, twitter, all that useless garbage and think about your own being. Focus on your goals and make them happen step by step, day by day.

  • the recommended amount of calories that a person should consume in a day is 3500 calories and 30 grams of fat. In order to lose weight you'll need to cut back to 1500 calories and 15 grams of fat. this is the safest reduction in calorie and fat grams that's recommended. Another great way to lose some pounds is to cut back on the amount of sugar you eat everyday. By not drinking sodas you could ten pounds in a year easily.
  • Omg I'm 16 too! I have lost 40 pounds last year so I know what you're going through. I think you should consume 1200 calories a day to lose weight. You should also divide your meals throughout the day and watch your portion size. Good luck!

Does burning more calories than you eat actually work?

I would like to loose some weight, and was wondering if burning more calories than you eat actually works? If so, how many more calories more should you burn than you eat? How many calories should you eat a day? Thank you! I can't seem to loose this pregnancy weight! Any other advice for me would be great.

How to Lose Weight With Portion Control

Recommended Answer:

One pound is equal to 3500 calories. To lose a pound a week, you should burn 500 extra calories than you consume each day. You should consume NO LESS than 1,200 calories. You can "burn" these 500 calories either by eating less, exercising more, or a combination of the two.Eat healthy, but choose one day a week to have a "cheat meal" (or a partial cheat day) to eat whatever you want. It rests your body both physically & mentally. And you should lose no more than 2 pounds a week.

  • It all depends on your height, weight and gender i think ._.
  • Yes, but that really means if a person is maintaining a 150 lb body weight by eating 3000 cals per day, and then they start eating 2700 cals/day, they'll start losing 'weight."And at the same time if they start doing some cardio, they'll burn off some of their excess bod fat.But just dieting w/o exercise could cause the lost "weight" to consist of some muscle, bone and fluids; Not good.So take steps to lose only the excess bod fat by doing cardio and some upper body toning w/ weights or bands, etc, to keep muscle n bone.
  • let's say your body needs 2000 normally so cut down maybe 300-500 of that and workout 30-60 mins daily and you MUST see changes I'll tell you one thing about sports it's the most guaranteed deal of all you give your body healthy food and you work out it gives you back great results that will encourage you to go for more it's a balanced equation don't do too much math so you don't get boredit's not really complicatedyou just need to watch out what you're eating and be activebut don't go so strictly to see quick resultsthose results never last instead make a new healthy life style that you would stick to for good good luck (:
  • Yes and no and it depends. Yes ultimately, if the body expends more energy (calories) than it absorbs from food, you'll definitely lose mass (though it could be muscle as well as fat). However, the tricky part is that the body is a very complex biochemical system. It's not a predictable machine. The kind of simplistic math the answer above gives DOES NOT WORK. For everything you do -- eat less, eat differently, exercise more -- your body reacts with hormonal repsonses that make the effects unpredictable. Sometimes people gain weight when they eat LESS and lose weight when the eat MORE, because of the body's various feedback loops and reactions. In short your metabolism has a lot of levers it can pull to slow down or speed up, and that's why it's difficult to lose weight. If it were easy and simple math worked, no one would be obese.
